SALVATION ARMY BAND.

SUCCESSFUL CONCERT.

On Monday evening ■ the Salvation Army Band gave a very successful concert in the Good Templar's Hall, the proceeds amounting to about £2O. The programme included company pieces by the band and the young people's band, several banjo and pianoforte items by Messrs Gadd, a recitation by Miss V. Davidson, tenor solo by Bandsman H. C. Rowlands, cornet solo by Bandsman I. B. Koch, instrumental quartette (Bands,men Boch and J. Smith cornets, Bowlands tenor, and H. Smith euphonium), Double-B bass solo by Bandsman King, pianoforte solo by Miss AT. Haws, and mouth-organ solo by Ml - . L. B. Smith. The musical programme concluded with the playing of "The Scottish March" and the National Anthem by the band. The various items were heartily applauded and encored. A number of new members were obtained for the band league, the pavmen! of one shilling entitling the member to admission to band concerts to be held once in three months and a band league lea to be held at the end of the year. The object of the league is to strengthen the band and its finances.
