CONSTABLES ROUGHLY HANDLED. j By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, June 7. ' Dast evening a serious disturbance Occurred, aboard the Moana, when a tmmber of Rarotongan soldiers under the influence of liquor came in contact with the police. About a dozen fo these men recently arrived from Auckland on the way to Rarotonga after having Berved as a unit of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The men boarded the Moana about six o'clock and appeared likely to take charge of the vessel, so the police were summoned. Two constables who went to the assistance of the ship's officers received a rough handling and had to send for reinforcements. Five additional constables arrived and, after a tussle, overpowered the natives, three of whom were arretted and confined in the police cells. The Rarotongan soldiers who returned by the Moana and created a disturbance on Lambton Quay last evening were brought before til#} court to-day. One pleaded guilty to being drunk and was fined £l. The other, who broke a pane of glass, was ordered to pay £1 damages. Two others, charged with being drunk and disorderly, were ordered to remain in custody till their' ship eails. \ "
