'London, June C. _ In the House of Commons, on the motion for adjournment to the 24th, Mr. Donald Mac Lean referred to the rumor that Mr. Lloyd George was weakening on the peace terms. He said he hoped the blockade of Germany would be removed as soon as possible. Its severity fell mainly on those who were in no sense responsible for the iniquities of the war.
Mr. Churchill replied stating that Mr. Lloyd George and his colleagues were striving to obtain a lasting peace. —Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
ITALY'S CLAIMS. AMERICA'S BACKING AND FILLING. Received June S, 11.5 p.m. London, May 29. The Daily Telegraph's Paris correspondent says that the last state of the delegation question is worse than the first. Colonel House, on behalf of the Americans;, came to an agreement with Signor Orlando that Italy should exercise technical sovereignty over Fiume, While Serbia should have free and full Use of the port. To-day President Wilson changed his mind again, and has thrown aside Colonel House's settlement. The Italians have accordingly issued an ultimatum to the Council of Four claiming the precise fulfilment of the Pact of London, 1915.—Au5.-N.Z. Cable Assn.

The Daily Chronicle's Geneva correspondent says that , apart from the army of 100,000 authorised by the peace treaty, the German Government is encouraging demobilised soldiers to join the imperial defence force and rifle clubs, constituting a vast imperial militia.—Aus.
