Mrs Bowling left on Saturday for Hawera en route to Chriatchurch, where s.he intends to reside for some time.
A London cable reports the death of Mr. Reginald Clarke, a New Zealand pianist and composer. Death occurred at St. Thomas' Hospital, after a long illness.
Mrs A. G. Lander, of Weatown, lias received advice that her husband, Lance-. Corporal A. M. Lander, is arriving in Auckland by the Wainiana on the 20th inst.
Mr It. Gilbert, of • Hurworth, has received a cable from his son, Captain C. C. Gilbert, R.A.F., saying that he and (lit' wife have left by the Prinzessin, due to arrive early in July.
At an investiture in London, General Birdwood received the "Order of the Grand Cross of St. Michael and St George, and Knight Commander of the Bath. General Monash received the Order of the Grand Cross of St. Michael and Si. George.—Aua. and N.Z. Cable Assoc.
Mr. W. H. Hawkins, ex-M.P. and recently back from France, has been appointed organiser and lecturer for the Prohibition Party for tlie district between Gisborne a fid Featberston, with headquarters at Napier. The many friends of Private George L. A boy of seven years of age is suffering from what is believed to be an attack of lethargic encephalitis at Masterton (says a Press message). He hat 1 been in a state of coma for several days, mul is under medical observation. There are also three other eases in which the symptoms are suspicious, but a diagnosis liar, not definitely confirmed these suspicions. A male suffering from a form of the disease some months ago k' said to be recovering.
