TIDAL WAVE.

AT THE FRIENDLY ISLANDS. Auckland, June 2. An earthquake which occurred at the Friendly Islands on April 30 was followed by a tidal wave, estimated to be eight feet high, which did considerable damage on Haapai. Vavau and Nukualofa escaped damage. The extent of the damage on Haapi is not known, the only information haying been received by natives in the other groups. It is understood no lives were lost.
