Sensational evidence was tendered »1 .the inquest to-day concerning the death of Jessie Weßt, aged 32, ltousenuiidl &1 the Whangarei Hotel, whose.body txi found in the upper reaches of thai Whangarei Harbor last night. Pearl Butka, housemaid in the same hotel, tetttted that the tragedy was the outcome of spiritual meeting* held in deceaaed'a room. After such a meeting on Tuesday night, at 8.30, witness and deceased walked to the town wharf, where the latter, remarking "Freddy is railing mf,* disrobed herself, and put on h#r nightdress. At deceased's request witneis took the clothes and walked away, thoutfh being fully aware of deceased's intraiaon. A verdict was returned that death was due to drowning by deceased throwing herself into the water. The comer remarked that the girl Burke though apparently simple-minded, was morally ra--sponsible for West's death, if hot mM* under the criminal code,
