THE LICENSING POLL.

CONTINUANCE MAJORITY NOT LESS THAN, 11,000. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, June 1. The official announcement of the result of the licensing poll is now near at hand. The civilian returns are practically complete, though amendments making a difference of one or two votes are still possible. The counting of absent voters' permits seems to have troubled the returning officers.' a great deal on this occasion. The civilian majority for Prohibition stands at present at 13,705. Two or three batches of soldiers' votes have still to be counted. The soldiers' majority for Continuance stands now at 24,184, and it is expected to be increased to something between 25,000 and 21>,000. The final Continuance majority on the combined votes apparently will not he less than 11,000.
