The By-Products Of a freezing works are very valuable. First there are the skins and wool which always command good prices. Then there are the various grades of tallow, for which there is ever a keen demand. Manures—well, everyone knows how necessary they are, especially in a pastoral country like Taranaki. The Province has, as a matter of fact, not yet realised what can be done by the systematic use of cheap fertilisers. When it does its production will more than double. That, however, is another story. The tinning department is a valuable adjunct, for the market for tinned meats has never been satisfied. The demand will be greater now than ever in Europe, owing to the ruthless slaughter of the capital stock. There are other side line? than can be exploited. THE TARANAKI FARMERS' MEAT COMPANY are alive to the necessity for exploitation of tinning, for they realise it means thousands of pounds additional profit to shareholders. It is for this reason and other obvious reasons that they are now asking the farmers of Taranaki to subscribe additional share capital of £50,000. Their business is a rapidly-growing one, and every growing concern must have financial fertilisers. You are, therefore, invited to help the company and help yourself by taking up more shares, or if you are not already a shareholder to become one at once. Write for application forms to THE SECRETARY, Taranaki Farmers' Meat Works, New Plymouth.
