INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
RECRUDESCENCE IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, May 31. After steadily decreasing to low_ limits, influenza during the past few days lias shown a tendency to increase. Yesterday tile metropolitan deaths numbered five and the new cases 72. In South Australia a number of country districts have become infected, while in Adelaide a considerable number of new cases and a few deaths are reported. In Queensland the deaths so far are about 90. The disease maintains a strong hold in Brisbane; many new cases are ' reported, and the public services and pusiness generally is sufl'criug materially. The Royal Agricultural Show has been abandoned. In Victoria the epidemic maintains about the average of recent weeks. Of 27 deaths yesterday 10 were in the country areas.—Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.
