By Tolocraph.—P.-css A33n.—Copyright Received May 31, 5.5 pjii. : Paris, May 30It is rumored among the German delegates tliat the meeting between Count von Bantam and Berlin emissaries at Spa was stormy, and that it is unlikely von Rantzau will rotmn to Versailles. A meeting of tlie Grand Council at Berlin advocated an appeal to international democracy and alliance with tlis Russian Bolsheviks. The generals present protested that tlie remedy would be worse than the disease. The opinion prevailed that armed resistance was impossible. Count von Rantzau and Herr Peheidemann ere unable to influence the Allies; therefore acceptance was inevitable,—Aub. N.Z. Cable Assoc. AN ALLIANCE WITH RUSSIA. : NOT LIKELY TO BE ACCEPTED, Received May 31, 55 p.m. Amsterdam, May 19. It is learnt that the German 'Govern's ment's reply to Lenin's offer of alliance stipulates that the Soviet tystem in Russia must be transformed into a Socialist Government.
