BOLSHEVIKS STILL RETREATING. EXPELLED FiROM NORTHERN UKRAINE. London, May 27. A Moscow wireless message states that the Bolsheviks have abandoned Gdovand retired to new positions south of the town. Bolshevik warships bombarded the villages northward of Narva. The Esthonians, who are advancing in the direction of Jamburg and Narva, captured an armed train, many machineguns, and 1500 Bolshevik prisoners. London, May 29. The Geneva correspondent of the Daily Telegraph states that the Russian Bolsheviks have been expelled from the whole of the northern Ukraine, ai6o from a large sector on the right bank of the Dnieper, The Ukraine revolutionary committee at; Bilaceriika has assumed the direction of three anti-Bolshevik armies under Grigorieff, Deleny, and Sokolovsky. Although the committee is Bolshevik in tone it is bitterly opposed to the Russian Bolsheviks' interference, and is energetically attempting to drive them out.
BOLSHEVIKS RUSHING REINFORCEMENTS. FIERCE FIGHTING IMMINENT. London, May 17. The Australian Press Agency learns that the Bolshevist insurgents in the upper Don district number 25,000. They ate suffering from shortage of ammunition and medical stores and lack of officers. They hope to join Denikem They are already out of the Bolshevik lines to the northern front. The Bolsheviks defeated the transCaucasian troops advancing on Merv. The situation there is sgrious. Ripening crops are falling into the Bolshevists' hands. On the other Russian fronts the Bolshevists are retreating. The lack of discipline in the troops has compelled the reintroduction of a stringent military regime. The Bolshevists are rushing reinforcements to Gachina to protect. Petrograd against the northern Russians and Esthonians. Fierce fighting is anticipated.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. BRITISH FLEET IN THE BALTIC. Berlin, May 17. A telegram via Copenhagen states that the British fleet is anchored off Memel, and it is expected the British will shortly occupy the city.
