ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
SEAMAN KILLED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A fatality occurred on the waterfront this afternoon, when the aftermast of the steamer Baden Powell snapped about fifteen feet from the deck and struck a man named Lepin, who was killed instantly. It appears that Lepin moved away in order to avoid the falling derrick, but in doing so stepped in the wrong direction. Lepin was about 20 years of age, and a member of the Waterside Workers' Union and Seamen's; Union. DEATH OF A MILL HAND. Raetihi), May 23. A man named William Dalziell died at Sollett's mill on Saturday. An inquest was held yesterday, and the evidence showed deceased had been drinking heavily. A verdict was returned that death had bean caused through taking quantities of methylated spirits. ,
