FARMERS' TRADING COMPANY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Farmers' Union Trading Co., Mr Boddie, chairman, replied to criticism, particularly with reference to the developments of the company's financial position since the purchase of the business of Eaidlaw Leeds, Ltd. He said he thought he could honestly congratulate the shareholders on the present financial position of the company, which enabled them, after having lifted a deposit of £11,750, to declare dividends of eight per cent on ordinary shares, and six per cent on preference shares. Messrs Boddie, Ross and Mac Gill, retiring directors, were re-elected. The report was adopted, the amendment, that the committee investigate the balance-sheet, being rejected almost unanimously. TRAMWAY MISHAP. Wellington, May 27. One of the most remarkable tramway mishaps that has taken place in Wellington occurred in Tinakori Road about six o'clock last- evening, when the corporation freight car, number 200, ran off the rails and toppled over the embankment fronting Little George Street. The car was returning to the city from Karori, where a load of luggage and other goods had been delivered, and was being driven by Motorman T. Orchard, the conductor being J. Nolan. Both men had a wonderful escape from death. Strange to say, neither of them was injured, although one received slight scratches on the back of his hands. As might only be expected, however, they both received a severe shaking.

Courtenay gave himself up to the military authorities voluntarily, and pleaded guilty to the charge
