TARRED ROADS.

To the-Editc*-. Sir,—l! notice tho Taranakl.Count? Council'; has resolved to go In for tarred roads. In-do-ing so they will need to act with caution and make sure that they aro- laid down in such a ;way that they will ho quite safe for horse trafflc. From what I see of tho Stratford Couniy-'siwork of that naturo on the main road, !l consider It a failure on the steep grades as far as horse trafflc is concerned. Several ac-' cideats have occurred with horses and vehicles, and I had a narrow escape myself, and my horse got off with u slight bruise. On flat Toads and easy grades they are doubtless good :if the 'formation is level across, because on uarirow formation when sloped on the edge horses are apt to slip while being pulled to one side 'when meeting-a. motor, etc. — I am, etc., PRO BONO PUBLICO.
