BURGLARS IN CUSTODY. > By Telegraph.—Press Association. Pahiatua, May 20. Constables Burrell and Fahey arrested Ernest Arnshaw, Edward Eriksen and George Welch in connection with the burglary at Levy's shop on Saturday last. Most of the missing goods, valued at from £7O to £BO, have been recovered. The men come before the court to-day, and it is understood will plead guilty. 1., INDUSTRIES COMMITTEE. May 26. The Parliamentary "Industries Committee sat in Masterton to-day. The questions of the deviation of the Rimutaka railway, hydro-electric power, woollen mills, the railway sur-tax on timber and the development of resources by establishing light line railways to the backblocks were presented by members of the Chamber of Commerce and others. SOMES ISLAND QUARANTINE. Wellington, Last Night. The renovating of Somes Island quarantine station is being proceeded with rapidly. Nearly 80 men are being employed in the work. PRICE OF MILK RAISED. Christchurch, Last Night. At a meeting of retail dairymen tonight the price of milk was raised to sixpence per quart for the ensuing three months.
