NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH
ENGINEER'S REPORT. The engineer will report to the nefct meeting of the New Plymouth Borough; Council: Deron Street, repairs Henui Bridge.— The bottom asphalt has been laid over the bridge and for a short length westward. The work has been delayed pending a supply of clippings, of which there is a shortage. Ridge Lane.—From Gilbert Street to the foot of the hill, approximately 2J chains, has been repaired with gaol gravel, the road having been opened for drain-laying. Breakwater Road.—Two fairly . large Rand slips have come down, and some 50 cubic yards have been carted away. Devon' Street Path.—The concrete flagging has been laid from the post office to Silver Street. Bullsr Street.—Prom Hobson Street to the East End reserve the road has been put into good order. Norman Street.—Eight chains have been formed, giving 24 feet roadway and a grass walk and gravelled path on either side. The gravelling will be commenced and completed in a few days. Holdsworthy Road.—The table along the south side has been re-graded. Crusher.—A breakdown occurred during the month, the swinging arm breaking across. A new casting is being made and while this is in hand a general overhaul will be given and some new screens erected. Qill Street Yard.—This yard is being cleaned up and storage room made for some 500 cubic yards of gravel. Currio Street.—Repairs have been made to the southern end and a dressing of tar and saiid will be giveM as soon as material is available. Sewer Block.—A serious block took place in Devon Street, the result of accumulated garbage and rags; this has been removed. Lemon Street Yard.—ln anticipation of preparing ample supply of materials for tar work, the up£er platform has been concreted and the roofing extended. Divisions .have been erected fo* storing classified material We shall" now be able to store up to 50W cubic? yards. Rainsford Street.—The pathway leading to the Mangatoku river hag been made, giving access 7 to Mr. Thompson' 9. propertv via Mr. Davidson's bridge. ' Mt. Edgeoumbe Streetr-Culverts h»v<j Imen laid down across Vivian Street at Mt. EdKecumbo Street, doing away with the cobble stone crossings. The road has been re-mctalled Miscellaneous.—Mill Road bridge has been repaired, two private crossings laid, slin removed from Fulford Street, materials delivered to the Fire Board, and 233 other minor jobs attended to. Proposed Work.—Carrinsrton Road metalline will be commenced in a few. days, Repairs to Currie Street, St. Aubvn Street, and Devon Street will be put in hand. Norman, Street aravellinf to be completed. Tire path at T"kapa Road to bo put in order The re-tarring of Vivian Street nath, between Dawson Street and Mr. F-dwcumbe Street, if the weather nermit*.
