HAND-WRITING EXPERT'S EVIDENCE.

In the case of Richard Martin, charged with sending threatening letters, Walter Dinnie, handwriting expert, gave reasons for his opinion that the anonymous letters were all written by the same person. It was obvious, in his opinion, that tht> letters were written in a carefully disguised hand. Ho had compared the writing in the various documents admitted to be in the hand-writing of accused, and was of opinion that both were written by the same person. Counsel for accused, when cross-examining witness, produced a letter written by another person, but as this letter had some bearing on the case Justice Hoskii'g would not allow it to be used, and adjourned tho hearing to enable other writing of the individual to be procured-
