FARMERS' UNION CONFERENCE.
CANTERBURY PROVINCIAL UNION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At the provincial conference of the Farmers' Union, held to-day. the following resolutions were carried: (1) That the Dominion executive be instructed to insist that the whole of the meat purchased by the Imperial Government up to the end of June 30, 1920, be removed before the beginning of the 1920-1021 season; otherwise the interests of the producer may be seriously affected. (2) That steps be taken to inquire into and remedy the existing shortage of railway rolling stoek. (3) That the average prices of New Zealand wools sold in London be published in the New Zealand papers.
After a long discussion in committee no decision was announced in regard to the following remit: That the proposaj of the North Canterbury Provincial Union that all storage space in the freezing works be taken over by the Government at once, and held under its control in the interests of producers, until the expiry of the present meat contract with the Imperial Government, be endorsed.
