The Afridis, inspired by stories of an enormous amount of loot obtained by the Sinwaris from the Afghans, are now discussing the chance of raiding Bassawal, in order to loot the Afghan camp there. Saturday's victory was more complete than previously reported. We captured four guns. Over 100 dead were counted in one small section. A large,enemy force attempted a night attack. We used star-shells freeiy, disclosing the enemy rushing aimlessly about. By dawn the enemy had dragged guns to the hilltops, and began bombarding our camp. The heights were stormed, the Afghans at lint resisting stoutly, but the hilltops were taken after the leading regiment had been reinforced. The Afghan gunners stuck to their posts, and bayonet work followed before the guns were captured. After we reached the heights the bulk of the Afghan force could be seen in the valley running hard. Our troops fired on them, and many felL When the Afghans abandoned Dakka the Sinwaris entered for the purpose of looting, but fled on our approach, leaving the town half-sacked.—Reuter. UNSUCCESSFUL REVOLT. London, May 13. It is suggested that the Amir is creating trouble to prevent internal dissensions. A Bolshevik wireless message from Moscow reports: Amir's uncle, Negrestol, who headed an unsuccessful revolt in Afghanistan had fled to Bokhara. Many of his supporters have been ar-rested.—Aus.-N.Z.
