It is certain that the new-created States are not likely to shoulder any portion of the Austrian debt contracted during the war, though they will not unwillingly bear a jolt portion of the debts contracted prior to the war. Any financial iidemnity from what is left of the Austrian Empire seems out of the question, but she will have to comply with toe naval, military, and air terms, which will be similar to those imposed upon Germany.—Aus.-N.Z.
