The question of the dispute with tlio Locomotive Engine Drivers, Firemen, and Cleaners' Association was discussed by Cabinet yesterday afternoon. The Acting Prime Minister subsequently stated that he regretted he was not able to give the organisation the Government's reply to-day, as he had promised, owing to the absence of the Minister of Railways, who had made certain engagements in the north, and had not been able to return to Wellington. The question of the Longton appeal case was also standing over for the return of Mr. Hemes.
