FARMERS' UNION.
MEETING AT OAKURA. . Mr. G. A. Adlam presided at a meeting at Oakura last evening called for the purpose of forming a branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, Mr. G, H. Buckeridge, organising secretary, and Mr. A, E. Washer, vice-president of the Taranaki Provincial Farmers' Union, were present, and fully explained the aims and objects of the union, and the benefits the farmers of the district would receive by the formation of a branch. Mr. Buckeridge detailed instances where the union had accomplished much on behalf of the farmers, and at the close of his address answered several questions
It was then resolved to form a branch to include •farmers in the Oakura and Tataramaika district, and the following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr. W. Honeyfield; vice-chairman, Mr, R. H. Gatenby; secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. Woifiinj auditor, Mr. G, A. Adlam; delegate to provincial conference, Mr. Gatenby,

The annual meeting of the delegates of the Taranaki Farmers' Union will be held at the Soldiers' Club, New Plymouth, on Friday, and Saturday.
A meeting was held in the Omata Stall on Monday night when Mr A. E. Washer, provincial vice-president, and Mr Geo. H. Tlnckeridge, provincial organiser, gave addresses on the "Objects and achievements of the New Zealand Farmers' Union." Mr 8. Vlckers occupied the chair. There was, considering the boisterous weather, a very fair attendance of fanners and;the speakers had a most attentive and interested audience. At the close of the' addresses it was unanimously decided ito form a branch of the union at Omata and Mr S. Vickers was eleoted the 1 first chainndn, and Mr A. J. Luxton delegate to attend the Provincial Conference which is to take place in New Plymouth on Friday and Saturday, 23rd and 24th inst.
All those present handed in their naraes as members, and it was decided to call another meeting after the conference has taken place, and in the meantime to thoroughly .canvass the district when it Is hoped to greatly increase the membership and to make the Omata branch of the Union one of the strongest in the district.
