The United States took a small part in the war, and won one battle, that of St. Mihiel. That was chiefly owing to British artillery and French airmen. He ridicules President Wilson's activities, referring to his defeat by Italy—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. ' THE VICTORY LOAN Received May 20, 5.5 p.m. Washington, May 12 (Delayed). It is officially announced that more than fifteen million persons subscribed to the victory loan. The total subscriptions will probably reach five billion dollars.
