BETWEEN HAWEBA AND BOUU»GNfi SCHOOLS.

London. May .10. Official: Mr. Massey visited Boulogne ! on Wednesday to attend the ceoutonr | of the exchange of national flags b'tiveei tjbfi College of Mariotte, Boulogne, ens of the oldest secondary schools in iranec, and the scholars of the Hawera Higli School, New Zealand. The desire in France to establish in permanent strength the friendly feeling between both <jouniTies is veiy strong, and the reciprocal interest of the Hawera scholars is keuiJy 1 appreciated.

The ceremony was very picture '■quo, many special guests and an English band being present to welcome th.- _\W Zealand Premier, who referred* to the eager and practical manner in which the people of New &aland had rallied to the aid of France against the menace oF Prussian control of free nations. He emphasised the need of inculcating in the youth of the Allied countries the love of nationhood and the unfettered freedom for which the armies of both countries had fought together on many battlefields. Their common sacrifice had formed permanent ties of friendship, and he .hoped future generations, in enjoying the fruits of victory, would in the "less heroic activities of both countries make these ties stronger. The French flag which will go to New -■Zealand is exceedingly handsome.
