ELTHAM.

Eltham, May 19. Whilst proceeding over the Kapuni bridge on the Eltham Road, a motorcyclist by some means collided with the structure, and was rendered unconscious. The machine was also badly damaged. According to Mr. Messena, who witnessed the accident, there has been no fewer than 13 accidents during the past 10 years, which include 4 motor-driven machines, 4 horses in gigs, while milk waggons have alto come imo collision with the bridge. The structure is approached by a steep down grade, and is extremely narrow, being only 11 feet wide in the clear. The hill requires to be regraded, and the bridge should be widened. The sufferer was attended to by Dr. Boyd, and fortunately escaped with a few cuts and a severe shaking. The recent sports gathering of the Mangatoki Athletic Club resulted in a credit balance of £4B 10s lid. The secretary (Mr. Curteis) was voted £2 2s. The annual meeting of the Egmont School Committees Association was held here on Friday, and the election of officers for the ensuing terms resulted: President, Mr. I. J. Bridger; vice-president, Mr. D. L. A. Aatbury; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Sheat; delegate to Taranaki School Committees Association conference, Mr. Bridger.
