THE GOVERNMENT'S CONCESSION By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington* last Night The extent and importance of the Government's decision to make the separation allowance of wives and guardians of the motheriesß children of soldiers retrospective from the date of embarkation may be gauged from the - fact .that Parliament appropriated £440,000 for these payments, but another £55,000 is found necessary to cover them, making a total of nearly half a million sterling.
