SEPARATION ALLOWANCES.
THE GOVERNMENT'S CONCESSION By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington* last Night The extent and importance of the Government's decision to make the separation allowance of wives and guardians of the motheriesß children of soldiers retrospective from the date of embarkation may be gauged from the - fact .that Parliament appropriated £440,000 for these payments, but another £55,000 is found necessary to cover them, making a total of nearly half a million sterling. Fun details of the conditions tinder which the payments are to be made during the first week in Jtme are now available, and it appears that approximately 12,000 tomb and approved guardians will participate in the distribution, wheh wll average a little over £4l J Long service men will get substantial sums. Take the case of a Main Body man who returned to the Dominion after ' the sflowahce of 3s per day came into ' effect.
