FARM AND DAIRY.

FEATHEBSTON ESTATE, NEAR WANGANUL. The attention of dairymen investors • and farmers generally is specially directed to the sale of the homestead portion of tile above, about 417 acres, subdivided into 6 farms varying from 50 to 140 acres. This sale, to be held on 28th May at 2 p.m. in the fire brigade hall, Yftuig&iiui. presents probably the last chance of acquiring level high-class land with a frontage to the Wanganui river aud only eight miles from the Wanganui Post Office. It is only five miles from the borough boundary on the Wanganui east side of the river, and three miles on west side, and with the rapid growth of the town must speedily reach suburban values. A site for a cheese factory has been reserved, and as two adjoining , owners are preparing to milk 170 cows this season, a co-operative factory should sottn be an established fact. The homestead block (140 acres) has a very attractive and convenient modern home upon it, apart from numerous other buildings. We have no hesitation in commending this sale to the attention of those in search of land near Wanganui. *ull information with plan appears elsewhere in this issue. A GREAT SALE. DISPERSAL OF THE CORNWALL , PARK SHORTHORN HERD. The milking Shorthorn in recent years has made wonderful strides and is gaining in popularity at every show 4nd every season, and it will therefore come as a surprise to find that Taranaki't leading Shorthorn breeder has decided to ret're from the ranks. This he does with very great reluctance, but loss of help and failing health (necessitating a good . spell) have rendered it compulsory, and he lias instructed Mr. Newton King to offer his whole herd Of pedigree and registered bulls, cows, heifers, and calves at public auction without reserve. Starting his herd 15 years ago, Mr. Wright lias bred all the cattle to be offered, with the exception of seven head, and they are a magnificent line. Each season only the pick of heifers wete kept out of the best milkers and butter-fat producers by such bulls as Diamond, Dule Laddie, Defiance. Baron Cornwall (purchased at a hirh figure from the New Zealand Government), Acorn of Oakdale (imported) (the champion bull), and Clinker H of Oi-d«!e (imported I. The two latter bulls are from the cream of the pure Tllnwarra cattle, and even prior to the . : raportation of these two animals Mr. Wrisht's well-known successes in the show ring and in the sale ring at the , Palmerston North fairs must have been verv pleasing to him. and must be an incentive to younger or later breeders to trv and equal Mr. Wright's achievements. Every yean Mr, Wright has only kept for himself the nick of the youngest out of the be=t milkeTs and butter-fat producers. He has in the catalogue to lie. offered a very fine line of registered ' heifers all in calf to pedigree bulls, which when they come into the sale ring must Shorthorn men.
