A question of some importance in international relations was discussed at the Dutch Reformed Church Synod, several speakers emphasising the remarkable growth of Mohammedanism amongst the natives of Central Africa, which was attributed to the greater simplicity and sensuous appeal of Islam. This was regarded as a peril to the whites. It is estimated that there are sixty million Mohammedans in Africa, as against nine million Christians , and ninety million pagans.—Aus.-N.Z.
