PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE.
MONTHLY MEETING. , A meeting of the New Plymouth Patriotic Committee wan held last night In the absence of the Mayor, the chair was taken by Mr. W. J. Chaney. Tliero were also present: Archdeacon Evans, Messrs W. A. Collls, P. Jackson, J. R. Hill, C. Sadler, J. Paton (treasurer), and L. M. Monteath (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs C. E. Bellringer and C. Carter. A deputation was received from the Returned Soldiers' Association in reference to some effort they proposed to make in connection with the peace celebrations, and it was decided to refer them to the same sub-commi,ttee which was set up to meet the Pierrots in respect to a similar matter. Grants were made to the Regimental Funds, and .to the widow of a soldier. An application was made on behalf of Mrs. Salt, whose house was destroyed by Are on Saturday night last, but the matter was deferred, pending its consideration by the War Relief Association on Wednesday next. The resignation of Mr. R. W. D. Robertson was accepted with regret. The monthly 'financial statement was by the trwurtr.
