The attendance was Tery large and speculation brisk. The racing was the heßt seen ou the course, and the steeplechases, in particular, supplied fine,, spectacular races and splendid finishes. There was only one spill during the afternoon, Silver Tim losing his rider at a simple post-and-rails fence in the Hack Steeples, ! but R. Thompson escaped injury. Hot and eold luncheon was most acceptable, particularly the former, to visitors Who had made long journeys to the meeting. Mr. MeMahon, stipendiary steward; was in attendance, but his deities were very light. Mr. ( H. From a fair send-off, Munster, Royal Park, and Reformation at once singled themselves out, and the first-named opened up a big break from Royal Pn.rk. Ngakitnni, and Reformation "as they eatne into the straight. Passing the stand Munster was eight lengths clear of Royal Park and Ngakanui, with Austin tailed off. Along the back Royal Park ran up to Munster, but the latter went away before turning for home, and ran ia a comfortable winner by a good length from the outsider Ngakanui, who got up in time to beat Royal Park (who Was not ridden out) by a length for Second place. Jui Jitsu was close up fourth, followed by Reformation, and Austin whipped in the field. Time, 2min. 45 2-ssec.

At the first fence Tornea jumped badly, temporarily losing his position, biit his pace carried him to the front quickly ajain. Master Webster jumped to the lead at the first brush, and took the double in front of the stand well clear of Silver Tim, Polthogue, and Tornea. Along the back Master Webstef stil held command, Polthogue and Silver Tim lying next. The post and rails proved fatal to Silver Tim, and this left Master Webster and Polthogue to fight it out. Master Webster proved the better juniper, and ran in three lengths in front of Polthogue, with Paul Moore a dozen lengths away third.. Speedwell Mac was fourth. Tornea fifth; and Spalperion, who was eased up, last. Time, 4min. 4sec. KGfMONT STEEPLECHASE HANDICAP, of 400 sovs.; seebnd 70 sovs., and third 30 sovs from stake. About two miles and a-half.

The posit'ons remained unchanged in the next round, but Arlington was fencing better than Yellow and Black throughout. As they ran into the trees in the last round Yellow and Black cannoned into Arlington, and then took the lead. Bore now elosea up fast, and as thev turned into the straight the three of them were being hard ridden. Yellow and Black and Bore came to the last fence together, but Bore got over smartest, and, going on, won by four lengths. Arlington was four lengths further back, followed at long intervals by Diavolo, Tarero, Gaekwar, and Merry Jack. Time, smin. 19 2-ssec. Kilbrogan has been very consistent this season (says the Christchurch Press). The date the Kilbroney— Showane gelding has started in 19 races for nine wins, and has been only four times out of a place. His winnings for the season total £2854.
