PEACE CELEBRATIONS.

MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the general committee for the New Plymouth peace celebrations was held at the Borough Council Chambers last night, Mr. J. W. Hayden presiding, and there were also present: The Ven. Archdeacon Evans, Messrs G. W. Browne, R. A. Large, W. A. Collis, A. Roberts, J. W. Chaney, J. R. Hill, W. Trim, K, Bennoeh, R. Payne, A. McHardy, H. A. Stratford, J. Hoskin, F. W. G. McLeod, and J. Buttimore. Archdeacon Evans reported that for the Sunday the Ministers' Association had decided to have one united service in the Coronation Hall —for the children at 2 p.m. and for adults at 3 p.m. The children's service would be conducted by the Rev. H. L. Richards, and the Rev. F. S. Harvie would give the address. At the adults' service, Archdeacon Evans himself would preside, and the address would be given by the Rev. 0. Blundell. It was decided to accept the offer of the Salvation Army Band to play for the Sunday service.

| Mr. McLeod stated that the Citizens' ] Band had decided to place their services lat the disposal of the committee without charge, but thai; there might be some members who would have to be reimIbursed for loss of time from work. Mr. Bennoch reported that matters in ■[connection with the children's fancy J dress balls were well forward. I Some discussion took place on the question of the price of admission for I adults, and it was resolved to rescind j the previous resolution, and that the charge for adults be 2s. The charge for I children and family tickets was not j changed. j It was decided that no adults be allow'■ed to dance together on the children's night before half-past nine. The question of prizes was discussed, and it was stated that prizes to the value of £25 had been offered for competition in connection with the two functions, and a hope was expressed that some donations towards that would be forthcoming.

Messrs A. W. Bradbury (New Plymouth), E. Maxwell (Oaomii), and J. S. Fox (Okato) were appointed judges of the procession exhibits and displays. Accounts amounting to £o3 5s 6d were passed for payment.
