Messrs. Stocker and Humphries, local agents for the Karu, expect the steamer to arrive earl}' this morning. Sbe brings a cargo ot 250 tons, which should be discharged within six or seven hours, and the steamer will then proceed to Teraione,, thence to Lyttelton. THE R'ARAWA. Yesterday the Rarawa arrived) at the usual; hour with a large passenger list and general* cargo. She left again last night on the return voyage to Onehunga. THE ORISSA. The Orlssa, now at the wharf, is owned by the Brltlah-Indla Steam Navigation Company and was built at Sunderland in 1897 by Lalng and Co. Her principal dimensions are: Length over all, 4211 (eet; beam, 51 feet; d.pth, 29 feet. Her gross tonnage is 5435 tons and she has a deadweight currying capacity of 8700 tons. Captain C. A. Atkins is in command and with him are the following officers: Messrs J. S. Mann (chief), B. Tulle (second), W. Felgate (third), L. E. Coleman (fourth). The engineers are: Messrs. W. Walker (chief), 1. L. Haig (second), T. S. Rogerson (third), S. N. Waring (fourth), S. C. Jarrett (fifth). The crew ore Lascars. It Is interesting to note that, aa a result of the recent amalgamations of most of the large shipping companies, the British-India Company now owns the largest line of steamers in the world controlled by an Independent company.
