A CONVICTION QUASHED, By Association. Wellington, May 0. In the case of Ilex. v. Lander, the Court of Appeal held that accused could not be convicted in New Zealand for bigamy committed in England, and the conviction would be quashed. STEAMER DELAY. Auckland, May 9. Everything possible would be done to overcome the difficulty. At a meeting of the passengers this morning, the opinion was expressed that the explanation was inadequate. It was resolved that unless something more satisfactory was forthcoming more drastic action should be taken. It was further resolved to interview the local manager of the company with regard to accommodation.
NEWSPAPER TROUBLE. Wellington, May 9. William Kraig, editor of the Maoriland Worker, and John Glover, publisher, were charged at the Magistrate's Court to-day with inciting a seditious strike. The «,harge arose out of a letter published in the Maoriland Worker, urging every worker in the Mea't Trade to refuse to take part in the producing and distributing of meat until New Zealand's meat is supplied at a reasonable rater or, as an alternative, the go-slow policy. Pleas of guilty were entered, and the charge being described by the Crown as a serious one, Kraig was fined £SO and Glover £lO.
