MATCHES IN ENGLAND. London, May 8. At Rugby football the Australians scored !) and Cornwall nil. The New Zealanders scored 14 against Devon ail. At Association football, England scored 1' and Scotland 3,—Aus. N.Z.' Cable Assoc. Yesterday afternoon members of the Star Football Club held a fine practice game, the attendance of players being large, and the standard of play satisfactory. From appearances, supporters of the club are very sanguine tbat the senior and junior teams will bo of merit, if hardly up to pre-war days. On Saturday seniors and juniors will have another practice on the racecourse, a good attendance of all players being requested. Championship fixtures commenced at Wellington on Saturday, and In each Instance the winning team had a substantial margin in their favor. The best score was that made by Poneke. tlieir total being 51 against Oriental, the latter filling to open a score. Other games were: Wellington 23 r. Old Boyi 3; Athletic 21 v. University i; Petone 21 v. Selwya 11.
