ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Eltham, May 8. Mr. C. Cooper, for many years manager of the Mangatoki Dairy Company, is coming to this town to reside, having accepted the position of manager to the Rennet Company. During his long association with the Mangatoki factory he made himself deservedly popular with suppliers, hence it was no surprise to learn that the farewell tendered him on Tuesday evening at the hall proved one of the biggest functions of this description held at Mangatoki. Mr. Jacob Marx presided, and, in the course of a eulogistic address, expressed the great value Mr. Cooper had been to the company, also to the dairying industry. On behalf of the directors, suppliers, and lactory employees, he presented Mr Cooper with a gold watch and chain, and Mrs. Cooper with a silver tea service. Messrs Webby (employee), Astbury (director), Geo. Death (Kaponga Dairy Company), Guy, and Dunlop also took advantage of the opportunity to add their appreciation of Mr. Cooper's qualities as manager and comrade. Mr Cooper briefly but suitably acknowledged the gifts and kind wishes. A fine programme was submitted, those assisting being Mrs. Beasley, Misses Ngahuia, and Eunice Astbury, and Messrs Carter, Thorpe, Gilbert, Silver, and Parrott. The accompanists were Mesdames Dive, Thorpe, and Carter. A dance was held later in the evening, the floor being comfortably filled. Messrs J. Thomas, 0. Webby, and H. Brewer officiated as M'sC, and Mr. Beasley's orchestra supplied the music.
