A London cablegram announces the death of Mr. A. \V. Cox, racehorse owner. Mrs. A. S. Tonks and Mrs. (Dr.) Milr'oy left Hawera yesterday for Wellington, en route to the Old Country. A Perth cable states that the remains of Lord Forrest have been re-interred in the family burial ground at Karrakatta, There were great crowds and an impressive ceremony;
Mr. and Mrs. T. Hill, of Wbemmkura, have received from Base Records the following particulars from the London Gazette of the act of gallantry which gained for their son, L.-cpl. C. T. Hill, of the Wellington Regiment, the Distinguished Conduct Medal. The record reads "28139 L.-epl C. T. Hill, Wellington Regiment—For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He made a reconnaissance of the ground in front of our line, and obtained information which was of great value in the attack which followed. During the attack he rushed three enemy machine-gun posts and captured four machine-guns. He set a splendid examnle of courage and determination,,"
