SYLVIA PANKHURST AGAIN. London, May 2. Miss Sylvia Pankhuwt was charged at Bow Street with, having obstructed the police. She claimed the right to enter the House of Commons. Mounted police dispersed the procession en route from Hyde Park. Its object was to protest to members of the House of Commons against the wars with Russia and Hungary, and to demand the introduction of the Soviet system in England. Miss Pankhurst declared that the dock workers in London were working harder than ever in war time, shipping ammunition to Russia. Miss Pankhurst refused to be bound over to keep the peace and was subsequently discharged. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. A FRENCH-KITCHENER INCIDENT. London, May 0. Lord French's history of the campaign in 1914 reveals that Lord Kitchener went to Paris on September 1, 1914, adopted the tone of supreme commander, and announced his intention of taking the field. Lord French refused to accept Lord Kitchener'* orders, and Kitchener yielded.—AUS.-N.Z. Cable Aesn. AUSTRALIAN ARTIST'S WAR PICTURE. London, May 6. Mr. Power's pioture in the Academy, which he has just finished, is ft large .painting commissioned by the Commonwealth Government for the Wav Museum. It depicts the batteries of the Ist Division changing ground during the Battle of Ypres in July, 1917. The Government has already secured 1500 sketches and studies.
