PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 7. The working of the Public Trust Office for the year ended March 31 last resulted in a profit of £70,150 on the year's operations. This is a record for the office.
District officers in charge and permanent offices of the Department have been opened at Taihape and Dannevirke, and arrangements are complete for similar action to be taken with regard to Palmerston North, Hamilton and Blenheim, [t is proposed to terminate the agencies at Timaru and Ashburton, and to appoint permanent officers at these places at an early date, also to improve the facilities for carrying on the business at Hastings.
A forward step has also been taken in conjunction with keeping estate accounts. During June next all accounts relating to estates under administration at Invercargill, Napier, Wanganui, Hawera and Nelson will be transferred from the head office, and will in future be kept locally.
