FRIESIAN CATTLE.
j FRIDAY'S SALE. In connection with the sale of Frieslans on account of William James' estate on Friday next, it Is, interesting to note the marvellous way the "King Segis" blooil has come to the front in America. The latest number of the Holsteln register, published in Battieboro, Vermont, says: "A bull that was practically unknown a year •and a half ago, but now ranks with the greatest [the world has ever seen is "King Hengerveld :Aaggie Fayne." His rise in the last year has been the most phenomenal of any bull of the breed, his daughters breaking more world's records in that length of time than those of any bull w'th the exception of "Pontine Korndyke." "King Hengerveld Aaggie Fayne" was in the service of Mr. Marnard Meyer's he/d for about three years, when, having some trouble with Ills throat, he was sold to the' butchers for beef. The .loss of this bull at such an age was f probably the greatest loss the breed has ever Buffered in the death of an Individual animal. The death of .a great record'cow is not nearly so serious a matter as the*, loss of a highly prepotent; bull; for a cow r even the most prolific, can >hav.e-only ten or fifteeh springs -in her life, Jt a bull, uriden favorable circumstances,can.. ( over 500.. His daughter "Findernd tfolhigen 'FayntT Is the only cow outside IV.. Johanna'-' that has ever held th? Puller in the foyr different divisions ".at lh'o same Unia, she is now the only coW l in-the'world that holds five world's ; records, tofor .butter records and one milk recotd. She surpassed, the best, record ever made by a i cow of anbther'dairy brfeed.' that of the Guernsey "Murne Cowan" of: 1908, of fat by 1 17.871b. fat, and the best Junior three-year-old J records of 748.61bs fat held by "Lass 4th," of Hood Farm, by 368.451b5. Her record is remarkable, not only for the Amount of l/utter produced, but In several other particulars Her average per cent, of fat for the year was 4 53 her highest being 5.32 per cent. His four three- | year-old daughters averaged butter-fat in seven days, which far exceeds the daughters of any other bull at a like age, and Ave of his three-year-old daughters aver aped 33.231bs which is also unequalled. The sire of "King 1 Hengervald Aaggie" is "King Faroe Segls," who has 25 a.r.o. daughters. The sire of '"King Fayne Segis" is the famous "King Segis,' who has 85 a.r.o. daughters and his . dam was "Grace Fayne 2nd Homestead," a then record-breaker with 35.561b. fat for seven days The above remarks from a Register' are very interesting as it will be remembered that Mr .Tames catalogue shows a strong running to the n.Obg- Fayne Segis" blood, through "King Fayjie Segis 2nd", being by the same sire as Hergerveld Aagie Fayne" and in addition , the ''King Fayne Segis" descendants Zealand up
