THE MINING INDUSTRY.

THE GOVERNMENT'S NEW POLICY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister for Mines was asked today if he could give particulars of the new policy regarding mining. He replied that lie could not go into details, but Cabinet had practically agreed to his proposals, and he was having legislation prepared for submission to Parliament next session. His intention was to niake such arrangements regarding prospecting and investigation of resources as to ensure the thorough testing of th£ Dominion's mineral resources. It would be necessary to have a measure of reorganisation, and full staffing of experts for the Mines Department, in order that samples and proposals submitted might be reported upon more quickly than was possible at present.
