STANDARDISED STEAMERS.

WAITEMATA FOR NEW ZEALAND By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, May 0. The new standardised steamer Waitewata, built by the Imperial Government and purchased by the Union Company while still on the stocks, will leave England this month for Calcutta, via Port Said; thence she sails from Calcutta foi the four main New Zealand ports, via Singapore and Samarang. The Waitemata is one of the five steamers purchased by the Union Company to replace those vessels lost through enemy action and other causes during the war. The vessel is 9000 tons dead weight, and has a speed of 12 knots. She was built by the Northumberland Shipbuilding Company, and has only recently been launched.
