-INOCULATION W CHRISTCHURCH.2 By Telegraph.— Press Association. Christehurch, May 5. In response to the Hospital Board's announcement, that .those desiring to be inoculated against influenza would be treated at the hospital, 27 persons were operated on this morning. Dr. Chesson states that supplies of vaccine are now available for local doctors who may vaccinate patients not wishing to attend a hospital. The Hospital Board ia making arrangements to supply the public with an inhaler devised by a member of the staff. EXTENDING QUARANTINE STATIONS. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister oi Health stated that the work of extending the quarantine stations :■•! p'-eceeding tin rapidly as possible, and as soon as stations are up to the point where a ship's crew and a fair number of passengers could be accommodated it was hoped to bj able to resume partial passenger service by allowing, first of all, bona fide New Zealanders in Australia to return. Mr. Russell has received from the Government agent at Sydney a letter acknowledging a cable authorising advances to necessitous New Zealanders. When the letter was written only one application had been made for an advance. POSITION IMPROVING "iN SYDNEY. Received May 6, 12.50 a.m. Sydney, May 5. Replying to a> deputation of representatives of racing clubs, picture show men, and business men, requesting the' abolition of the influenza restrictions, Mr. Fuller stated that the outlook was very hopeful. While he was unable to say what the council would decide at Wednesday's meeting, he hoped to have good news for the business community on Thursday. This, together with other indications, leads to the general belief that the racing embargo will be lifted this week, permitting the Randwick meeting to be held on Saturday. RESTRICTIONS DISCUSSED. Sydney, May 5. The Medical Consultative Council will meet on Wednesday to discuss the relaxation of the influenza restrictions.
