REVIVING MINING INDUSTRY. Bjr Idtegeaph.—Pteas Association. Hokiti&a, May I. ; EUlowing an announcement by the i Minister of Mines to put forward fresh proposals to revive the mining industry, die Wcstland County Council has convened a conference for May 14 and 15 to consider suggestions to place before the Minister to foster and develop tho , gold-mining industry in Westland. Thtf Hon. W. 0. S.. JStaeDonald has accepted an: invitation to attend tho conference, siid will be accompanied on his visit by Mr. T. Y. Seddon, M.P. Considerable local interest is manifested in the coming conference, and delegates are to be present from all parts of the district. Tho Minister will be asked to visit the. new golHJfields near Lake Kanieri and. the Cedar <3reek reefs.
