DISTRICT NEWS.
TOKO. There was a poor attendance at the Toko householders' meeting on April 14 to elect a school committee. After the chairman (Mr. J. T. Kilpatrick) had read the report and ba-lance-sheet, which was adopted, the following committee was elected: Messrs. H. Milne, T, R. Julian, T, Milne, J. T. Kilpatrick, A. J. Chalney, J. Kilpatrick and M. Gernhoefer. The lastnamed was elected to fill the chair for the coming year, and Mr. A. J. Chalnoy to act as secretary and treasurer. Those present were in favor of providing cocoa for the pupils during the winter months. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the outgoing committee.' At a subsequent meeting a discussion took place re funds for framing suitable pictures for the walls of the school, and a piano, of which j the school is much hi need. A fancy-dress I juvenile ball will be held during June t6 raise funds. The monthly meeting i 3 to be held on I the Monday night before the full moon. The 1 chairman (Mr. M. Geruhoeier) and the secretary are to wait ou the teachers to see what part the school could take in ';he peace celebiutions.
