THE TAINUI DRAFT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, April 30. The transport Tainui berthed this morning, and 505 troops, 47 nurses and 50 wives disembarked. The troops include 80 jaw cases. The men had a lousing reception. The Napier and Gisborne men left by the 9.10 express, the Auckland men by a special at 2 p.m., the Kelson men leave by the Pateena, Otago, Canterbury men by ferry to-night, and Wanganui and Taranaki troops by express to-morrow. THE RARANGI'S DRAFT.

The mail train last night brought to Taranaki the largest draft of returned men that have so far arrived in any one transport for this district They comprised over 100 men, who arrived by the Rarangi in Wellington on Monday afternoon. The men were given great receptions at the various stations along the line, and, as were entertained to tea by the Women's National Reserve, under the presidency of Mrs. H. A. Lovell, at the Hawera station, which was profusely decorated with bunting, the Salvation Army Band rendering some selections. Addresses of welcome were given by Mr. E C. Dixon (Mayor) and Rev. C. H. Grant-Cowan. Kith am, Stratford, and Inglewood stations were crowded. At New Plymouth the Citizens' Band, under Mr. McLeod, played "Home, Sweet Home" as the train steamed in. Several members of the Patriotic Committer were present on the station, but | no formal speeches were made, the men being quickly seized by eager relatives and friends.

The draft was in charge of Lieut. F, H. C. Smith. The following is a list of the men who were expected to return, though it was difficult to ascertain last night if all had come by the mail train: Waverlcy.—Rfm. T. Askew, .T. O'Reilly and J. Boson.
