Mr. George Dawson arrived at Mokau yesterday. He has been appointed secretary to the local Harbor Board.

Mr. John Massey has been elected pfesident of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association.

Mrs. H. B. Hewlett, a lady aviator, arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning by the PalOona from San Francisco.

Mrs. E. J. Capon, Lemon Street, has received advice that her son, Pvte. W. J. Capon, is arriving by the Nortbumbirland.

On Saturday last the staff of the West find school entertained Mrs Dowling at afternoon tea at the residence of Mr. E. Bnry, arid presented her with a letter companion. The presentation was made l».v Miss Mynott. Reference was made to the marked progress of the West End School during the time Mrs. DgwJSng had been headmistress, to the meritorious success achieved by pupils of the school, and to the harmony which had always existed among the staff. Mr« Dowling suitably responded, and acknowledged the hearty co-operation she had always received from the staff.
