In the meantime the 'Candidates favored the municipality controlling the milk supply at the earliest possible moment. The cost of living has increased enormously, and with the view of reducing this the party candidates approved of the establishment of a municipal .food supply, nnd, if elected, they would"set up a committee to consider its practicability and to advocate that the necessary legislation be passedIt lias been said that New Plymouth has one of the best electrical plant* in '■ the whole of the Dominion, which, if properly administered, would speedily : become* the greatest assets the borough possesses. Ono speaker stressed the no- . cessity of tho municipality supplying'tnd ; installing all necessary parts for elec- 1 trical use, at the lowest possible flica ' commensurato with cost.

One speaker suggested that to inrprovil L the quality of filroß screened at the various theatres there should be national,, control, with n view to the improve-' ment of the educational value of the films. It was also pointed out that pie- , turcs should be introduced into ,the . schools ns a definite educative agency.

Tim Harbor Board candidate showed that it was essential to have a member of the board who actually understood the working conditions on the wharf, and who would favor that everv precaution he taken for the protection of those working on the waterfront, whten. would include better lighting condition*. One of the points raised by Labor'a nominee for the Hospital Board waa tho total inadequacy of the salary of tho nursing staff at the general hospital, and if elected to tlvi board he would advocate that all medical attention should, aa soon as practicable, be given free to any person requiring it. A number of questions were asked during tho evening, and, after having the aim* of the Labor Partv clearly shown, the meetings eventually broko np at a late hour.
