FIRES.
ABLAZE A 1 AKASOA. By Telegzapa—Press Association. C3uristchurch, April 28. Early on Sunday morning a fire occurred at Davanchefles Bay, the .Akaroa County Council Chambers, the post office, and a private residence being destroyed. People were sleeping in all three buildings, but escaped unharmed. Many valuable books and maps were destroyed. The council chambers were insured for £SOO. The other insurances are unknown.
