COLLAPSE OF A CRANE.
TWO MEN KILLED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, April 26. The collapse of a crane at the Wellington Gas Company's works at Miramar resulted in the death of J. Ferrell and J. Churchill and injuries to J. Mann. Details aTe not yet available. Wellington, Last Night. When three men were hoisting coal at the gasworks on Saturday, the crane overturned and fell. Two men were on the crane, and one named Mann jumped clear, but the other (Ferrell) fell with j the crane and was killed. The crane I jib fell on a third man (Churchill), killing him instantly. Mann, in jumping .from the crane, had a drop of ten feet, and suffered painful injuries. He was taken to the hospital, and is reported to-day to be slightly improved. Mann is a married man with a young family. Ferrell was an elderly man with a grown-up family, and Churchill was a single man, having no relatives in the Dominion, his mother living in England.
