THE LICENSING POLL.
THE SOLDIERS' VOTE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, April 25. The return of voles cast by undischarged .soldiers in New Zealand is regarded with satisfaction by officers of the New Zealand Alliance. . They point out tlmt while the men abroad and on transports have voted Continuance by ft' majority of over four to one, the men wlin have been a short time back in the Dominion have given Continuance a majority of less than three to one- "If we had got the men back here three months before the poll Prohibition would have been carried," said a prominent Proliihilionist to-night. The number of votes cast by discharged soldiers is smaller than was expeeled, and it is probable that some of the men chose to vote in their civilian capacities. There were about 10,0(10 men qualified to vote as soldiers in the Dominion.
